School Backpack

Designed for small women

Problem:

I’m an adult women who struggles to find sleek backpacks that don’t look out of place on myself.

This new bag should:

  • Hold my laptop

  • Fit smaller adults proportionally

  • Be weather proof for walking to class in the snow

  • Adjustable size for amount of stuff

  • Aesthetically pleasing

Top Half

I wanted an interesting texture difference, so for the top I envisioned using neoprene. Neoprene can also be used as the hook side of velcro so the closure of the flap on top could be done without another piece of velcro.

There was no thin neoprene available within my time frame, so I settled for another water repellent fabric that looked similar for the prototype.

Bottom Half

Nylon pack cloth was used. One side has a waterproof urethane coating, the other is a medium weight nylon. I decided to put the “wrong” side outwards, the matte look of the urethane coating was what I had been looking for.
